I judge movies by their plots and effects and all, well, but beyond that, they aren’t in my measurement. Everyone still agrees that ‘Transfomer’ is still the movie of the decade. Ahhaha. Again, I would say it’s because of it’s plot that no one can make a presumption on what’s happening next.
But no, I’m not writing a review about this movie, but it’s actually the only movie that gave me the deepest inspiration and motivation ever before, it’s coach carter. I seriously think this is the movie that everyone thirst for. Yes u might not heard of it before. Because it’s not screened in Msia before. And how I got to know this movie? Pirated stalls ma =.=”. The plot says it all anyways.
It’s about a coach, Ken Carter, well he was a successful sports store owner at first, but he got the offer to coach the basketball team back at his old highschool in Richmond. Coach Carter wasn’t delighted with the attitude of his players so he immediately imposes a strict regime typified in written contracts that include stipulations for respectful behavior, a dress code and good grades as requisites to being allowed to participate. This is something obviously I haven’t gone through before, signing contracts to join a basketball team? Sounds insane right? But after that, yes stuffs have gone better, under Carter's tutelage, the team becomes a undefeated competitor in the games.
But this sparked another problem, which is overconfidence. Furthermore, many of them skip classes and did poor academically. So according to the contract, Coach Carter cancelled all the activities and urged the players to focus on their academic. This drew the attention of the media and whole nation as the team’s parents and school people found Coach Carter’s method is rather disturbing. Carter fights to keep his methods, determined to show the boys that they need to rely on more than sports for their futures and eventually finds he has affected them more profoundly than he ever expected!
The students didn’t turn up shooing off Coach Carter, in fact they actually began to look on the other side of what Coach Carter’s method meant for them. And as soon as the final examination result came back, Coach Carter words were promised and the gym was opened was again, and training went usual and they’ve made it to the finals.
There are so many things which impressed me in this movie. Not only the plot or script, but the actors. It’s a movie filled with emotions. It’s a movie with awesome soundtrack, featuring ‘Hope’ that song, I don’t know who sang it but it’s very meaningful, because it means, wherever and what condition you are at, there are always hope. And another awesome thing is the quotes, many quotes in this movie, this is one of it.
Timo Cruz: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
Very very powerful.speechless actually. DO TRY to find this movie. It’s out in 2005. And definitely this is a must watch movie to all basketball gamers! =)

Is Sports just about being Sporting?

I still remember the most memorable turning point of my life that changed my perception towards sports. Reminiscing back one of my physical education lessons in upper secondary, I realized that’s the moment when I realized sports is not just about sweating and having a fit life, but it’s so close associated to the way of social in life.

It was just like an everyday occasion in the field, kicking football around and having fun. Until, when this tall guy came up to me and punched me. I still clearly remembered the innocence in me about that event until right now. Perhaps he was just pissed off when I tackled his ball away I assume? But that was just way insane to be. No one would have ever be so shameful to beat the drum and gets his impression ruined within seconds. I was calm anyways and went up to him questioning the usual question, ‘what’s that for? Even though I did something wrong u don’t need to be that way! You are the sportsman in this school and what does that mean to you?’ (he was chosen for Selangor’s team in Volleyball btw) And I ended up saying’ Don’t ever dare to say you are a Sportsman even in front of me’ and yes guess what? There you go, another punch landed on my mouth. We remain speechless as blood trickled from my mouth. And the next two days he was suspended from school, while I took 4 days just to wait for my gum to heal. =.=”

Well what i want to point out is that sports is another way of learning how to deal with social life.. It’s more than understanding it but about experiencing it yourself. “it’s your attitude that determines your altitude’ zig zagler once said. You don’t expect other people to respect you before you respect them in the sports world. Just like Bolt, the 100m and 200m world record breaker, many people might think that he is well respected because of his achievements but for me, it’s a big No, have you even seen him giving a pat talk to anyone on the track besides running around and getting signatures for his fans? No right? So yea just think about it.

Fashion~ Spill out wat u think~

Fashion is a Big word. Well, perhaps most of us are having the misconception to relate fashion only in the perspective of clothing. The fact is that fashion is another meaning for trend or craze over something. When I was given the theme ‘fashion’ as my writing subject, the first thought that came into my mind was that, why is there such a thing fashion? In what sense of psychology in human beings that make us embrace that craving habit into the latest trends?

Well it is obvious that different types of fashions are being spread around the globe with different ways of influence. Whether a trend is beneficial or not, it all depends on how we match it with our cultural value. For example, short skirts are the in things for teenagers ever since past few seasons. This fashion shouldn’t be encouraged as we are ought to respect our Malaysian culture. I believe that fashion is a good example to see from, if we want to measure the maturity level of our youths today.

What do I mean by then? In my opinion, People who are easily influenced by latest trends are usually people who aren’t that determined in their lives. Well it sounds wrong but look again, youths with deep dignity and determination are most likely to grab hold and stand firm with their believes and philosophies. This also means that they are less likely to be manipulated by their environment, such example would be again, fashion and trends. It’s a living evidence in front of us! Let’s see from the gaps of ages and generations, do we really see adults clicking along with clothing fashion? Of course not! This is because as they grow older they learn how to think wiser instead of spending pointlessly like the teenagers today.

Doesn’t the saying goes familiar? ‘ you are born to be who you are’ Everyone is created to be unique, the way they are, in every single perspective. Afraid of being left out is the only reason why many people invest inappropriate money and time to click along with all these trends. However, when some people find that the trend eventually click along with their individual characteristics, then that is a different story.

Well, let’s see around us. Fashion is still a complicated thing for most of us. Trends come and go just in the blink of an eye, especially in clothing, Most of us hardly able to differentiate the effects of trends unto ourselves black and white before adapting them. With many revolutions and changes get ahead of us, I still believe the best way is to get a grip towards our believes, religion, way of life, culture, and most important, to be who we are born to be.

So, What About Matric?

I may look like a simple guy, but simple guy has complex inner thoughts too. My life is simple but I make it complicated and well planned. That’s me, details determine destiny. I believe in one’s well planned vision of life would lead that individual to a life that is filled with testimonies. There are basically 5 quotes that I set to determine my principles of life. Well that was the first one. One next will be, “ if you want to go to bed with satisfaction, you got to wake up with determination” This displays the importance of self motivation. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m from a single parent family because I believe that I earned maturity from it. Life has been a struggle and I appreciate it because it has formed the present me. “ An optimist sees opportunities in difficulties while a pessimist sees difficulties in opportunities”. Well, in other word, learning from mistakes and repair our past! The next one would be quite common, “ it’s your Altitude, not your Aptitude that determines your Altitude” as long I have the right attitude to be enthusiastic to gain new skills, I believe that is something that makes my life more precious. Talking about Leadership, I define it as ‘ Being the leader of the ship, to guide where the ship crews are heading and to train them as future leaders to guide other boats.” It might sound lame but I believe leadership is more than the common term of leading people and that’s all. I see life as a battlefield, to earn ourselves a never ending experience, not just like a bed of roses. Well , that is basically about me, the mindset of me, the mindset of being a thinker I guess? I’m not boasting about what I wrote but it’s my personal objective to motivate everyone’s lives I know to live their lives out and shout it out loud.

Well, so what flows into my mind as I take my steps into KMM?

Speechless, that’s the only word that best describes myself now. It still remains an amazement for myself to be here. This doesn’t mean Local Matriculation wasn’t in my choice of destinations after my highschool. Reminiscing back the culture in my highschool, I felt that I had taken up the less chosen path. Not to be proud of, but my secondary school was and is always the target of all private colleges, that is why Matriculation is something that might not came across the students mind.

Well, I bet that is a huge lost for them. Bwahahah* evil laughs* I was at my orientation week in UTAR for foundation studies when I receive the news regarding about the acceptance to Local Matric. Then suddenly, there’s this very huge, impactful thought started to stir in my heart. The feeling was so strange for the first time. It’s like, I was saying to myself, “This is going to be the best Chapter in my life” I have no idea what is going to happen, but I know for certain that something awesome is awaiting for me here. Not about the campus life, the place nor the food, but the people. The characters whom I am going to mix with and learn about a wider perspective of life. Even when I left my friends, I said this to them “ I will be back with a whole new, different person”.

It was not an illusion at all. Getting this acceptance is not something to be proud of because of it’s free pre university education plus allowance, but it’s more than a lottery for me because the personalities I find here. Yes, finally I’m here. I wasn’t wrong at all. The people here, all walks of life, they are from different background, race, religion. Albeit to the problems to adapt to this new environment, I feel that it’s a good challenge to gain my self maturity, in here, KMM.

I learned how to really respect each other. Well I have heard many stories and many testimonies from many students here. Coming to this college is more than getting good results, but getting maturity through understanding each other and respect them. I’m very pleased to be here for honest. It’s more than having a great campus life, well let us exclude the water problem in KMM, haha* but I’m quite impressed by the systematic way of administration in this college. I felt that it’s almost perfect, I mean the activities that run to develop one’s personalities.

This place is awesome! Well, many of us might say that life here is simple, but I will make it complicated for myself. I’m pushing my limits out of the boundaries by joining as many activities as possible. Flashing back to my high school life, I realized I was always right about my perception, that studies isn’t always the first priority. It’s true what people say. Your grades can earn you an interview, but it’s your social skill that earns you that job. I believe it, that in such a place like KMM, many challenging and mysterious task is waiting to unleash one’s potential leadership skills.

I’ve started seeing changes in myself ever since I came here and I bet many others too. Everything is very satisfying here overall, but just that I hope to see more students being active in activities here. Well stay tune with this blog! More attractive post upcoming! Haha* thanks for the patience to read! Take care!
